If this had happened then Ravichandran Ashwin would have retired before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a big reason came to light
Sports Desk: The third Test match played between India and Australia in Brisbane was a draw. Ravichandran Ashwin has retired after this match. He decided to retire after playing international cricket for 14 years. Before his international retirement, Ashwin told Indian captain Rohit Sharma that if I am not needed in the series at this time, then it would be better for me to say goodbye to the game.
It was believed that Ashwin was thinking about his retirement after the series defeat against New Zealand. India had to face 0-3 defeat against New Zealand. After that, if he does not get a place in the playing eleven of the Australia series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, then he will not go to Australia.
India preferred Washington Sundar over Ashwin in Perth, after which the experienced off-spinner included Rohit in the playing eleven for the second Test. Ravindra Jadeja played in the Brisbane Test and as Rohit said after the drawn third Test at the Gabba, no one knows how the team will be for the remaining two matches in Melbourne and Sydney.
Indian team has to play the next test series after 10 months.
A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on the condition of anonymity, told the agency that no signal was received from the selection committee. Ashwin is a legend in Indian cricket and has the right to take his own decisions. The next Test series is in England (June to August) where India may not take more than two spinners. After that India has to play a Test series in India in October-November.

Ashwin's decision not to wait until the series against Australia was over also indicated that Sundar was preferred over him during the opening match in Perth. For that reason also this decision was important. Ashwin, who has been able to read the game on and off the field, might have guessed what was going to happen next. They should be successful in reaching their decision through this.
Ashwin was persuaded by Rohit Sharma for the pink ball test.
The Indian captain revealed, “When I reached Perth we talked about it and I somehow convinced him to stay for the pink-ball Test match and after that, it just happened…he felt that if right now If I am not needed in the series, it would be better for me to say goodbye to the game.”
Second highest wicket taking test bowler for India
Let us tell you that Ashwin is the second highest wicket taker for India. He has a total of 537 test wickets in his name. In Test cricket, he has taken 5 wickets in an innings for India the maximum number of 37 times. He has also won the most Player of the Series awards (11 times), equal to Muralitharan. As a spinner, his bowling strike rate is 50.7 (200+ wickets), which is the highest.
