Bangkok, recently named the world’s best tourism city for 2024, has emerged as the most searched destination among Vietnamese travelers for the upcoming New Year’s Eve, according to online travel platform Agoda.
Every year, the Thai capital hosts grand fireworks displays and public countdown events featuring music and various festivities to welcome the New Year.
This year, major celebrations will take place at Iconsiam, a sprawling shopping and entertainment complex by the Chao Phraya River, and CentralWorld, a popular shopping destination, where countdown events will mark the year’s end.
Earlier this month, market research firm Euromonitor International crowned Bangkok as the world’s top tourism city for 2024, after the city welcomed a record-breaking 32.4 million visitors—a 30% year-on-year increase.

Following Bangkok, Agoda’s data from bookings made between Nov. 1 and 27 for Dec. 31 check-ins showed that Taipei City ranked second, with Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong completing the top five international destinations.
Domestically, Ho Chi Minh City was the most searched destination by Vietnamese tourists, followed by Da Lat, Vung Tau, Hanoi, and Nha Trang.
