Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 announced, Gagan Gill will get the award in Hindi, know whose names are included

New Delhi: According to a big news, Sahitya Akademi today announced to give the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2024 to the writers of 21 Indian languages ​​including the eminent poetess Gagan Gill for Hindi and Easterin Kire for English. In this regard, Academy Secretary K. Srinivas Rao said in a press conference here that Gill will be honored with this prestigious award for his poetry collection 'Main Jab Tak Aayi Bahar'.

Today Srinivas Rao said that Easterin Kire in English will be honored with the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel 'Spirit Nights' and Sudhir Rasal in Marathi for his criticism 'Vindanche Gudyarup'. According to Rao, apart from these, Deepak Kumar Sharma (poetry collection) in Sanskrit, Mukut Maniraj (poetry collection) in Rajasthani, Paul Kaur (poetry collection) in Punjabi, Sohan Kaul (novel) in Kashmiri and Dilip Jhaveri (poetry collection) in Gujarati. In this regard, he said that the Academy has currently announced awards for 21 languages, which include eight poetry collections, three novels, two story collections, three essays, three literary criticisms, one play and one research book.

Srinivas Rao said that these awards were recommended by the jury committees of these Indian languages ​​and were approved today in the meeting of the Executive Board of the Academy held under the chairmanship of Sahitya Akademi President Madhav Kaushik.

Please note that these awards have been given to books published for the first time during the last five years (January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2022). According to the Secretary, the awards in Bengali, Dogri and Urdu languages ​​will be announced later. Every year the Academy honors writers in 24 languages ​​with the Sahitya Akademi Award. He said the winning creators would be honored with the award, which includes a sum of Rs 1 lakh, an engraved copper plate and a shawl, at a ceremony to be held on March 8 next year.
