Sharing a picture with 38-year-old Ashwin on Instagram, he wrote, “We played together for so many years and created many memorable moments, which I will always remember. You have been a match winner since the beginning and have left a deep impression on the upcoming young bowlers. I am sure in the future we will get many young bowlers who will adopt your classic 'Ashwin' action.

He further wrote, “You are the true legend and Original Gangster (OG) of Indian cricket and world cricket. This team will miss you a lot. Best wishes to you and your family for the future.”

Before Rohit, Virat Kohli also wrote an emotional message

Kohli wrote, “I have played cricket with you for 14 years, but when you told me that you are retiring, I became emotional. All the old memories came alive in front of me. Ash (Ashwin), I have enjoyed every moment with you. You will always be remembered as a legend.”

A look at Ashwin's brilliant international career

Ravichandran Ashwin set many records in his international career. He took 537 wickets and scored 3,503 runs in 106 Test matches. His best bowling performance was 7/59, while in batting he made the highest score of 124 runs. In ODI, Ashwin took 156 wickets in 116 matches, while in T20 he took 72 wickets in 65 matches.

Ashwin's sudden retirement from international cricket is a big shock for his fans. However, his brilliant records and contributions will always be remembered. The team does not get a match-winning player like Ashwin very often, and it will be difficult to fill his place in Indian cricket.
