Thailand’s Bangkok has been the sole Southeast Asian city in Bloomberg’s list of the 25 best places to visit in 2025, earning praise for its modern public transportation system and luxurious accommodations.

Bangkok continues to expand its public transportation system in 2025 with new metro and skytrain lines, making it easier for visitors to navigate the city and discover new areas, Bloomberg wrote.

While the city is warm year-round, the dry season from November to February offers more comfortable conditions, making it an ideal time for tourism and vacations.

Several new luxury hotels are set to open in Bangkok next year, further enhancing its appeal to travelers.

Other destinations on Bloomberg’s list include Japan, Los Angeles (U.S.), Skåne (Sweden), Costa Palmas (Mexico), Egypt, and Rome.

To curate the list of 25 destinations, Bloomberg consulted trusted travel planners, evaluating the best and worst times to visit each location based on factors such as weather, festivals, and events.

Earlier this month, market research firm Euromonitor International named Bangkok the world’s top tourism city for 2024 after it welcomed a record-breaking 32.4 million visitors, marking a 30% year-on-year increase.

Bangkok’s success is attributed not only to its high visitor numbers but also to Thailand’s strategic tourism policies.

Key factors include friendly visa policies, such as a 60-day visa exemption for citizens of 93 countries and expanded visa-on-arrival eligibility for 31 countries, industry insiders said.
