Bumrah overtakes Ashwin

Bumrah has taken 66 wickets in 13 Test matches so far, while Ashwin has 63 wickets in 14 Test matches. Bumrah's brilliant bowling was seen in the Brisbane Test, where he dismissed big batsmen like Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne in the second innings of Australia. Apart from this, he also dismissed Pat Cummins on the first ball of his second spell. In this match, Bumrah took 9 wickets in 34 overs and performed brilliantly.

Most wickets in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2022-25

Bumrah's form is moving towards breaking many records this season. If he takes six more wickets in the remaining two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he can break Ashwin's record of taking the most wickets for India in a single season of the WTC. Ashwin took 71 wickets in the 2019-21 season, which is the highest for India so far.

Bumrah broke Kapil Dev's record

Apart from this, Bumrah also broke the record of taking most wickets for India in Australia. He left behind Kapil Dev's record of 51 wickets in the Gabba Test. This was Bumrah's 12th five-wicket haul, and he has become the first Indian to achieve this feat by taking five-wicket haul for the 8th time in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia).
