Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Josh Hazlewood's injury before the fourth test is a big blow for Australia.
The fourth and decisive match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will start next week.
- The first match was won by India.
- The second match was in the name of Australia.
- The third match in Brisbane ended in a draw.
However, Australia suffered a major setback during the third Test when their experienced fast bowler Josh Hazlewood once again got injured. Hazlewood is likely to be out of the remaining Test series due to his injury. Fast bowler Scott Boland can be included in the team in his place.
Brett Lee praised Scott Boland
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee shared his opinion about Scott Boland and praised him.
- Brett Lee said:
“Any team seems incomplete without Hazlewood. He is a brilliant bowler, whose record and team playing are both excellent. He is as important to the team as McGrath was.”
- he adds:
“It's a big blow for Australia, but the team is lucky to have options like Scott Boland. Boland has proven that he can meet the needs of the team.”
Hazlewood's injury: big blow
Josh Hazlewood, 33, walked off the field for scans after bowling just one over on the fourth day of the third Test.
- He was suffering from a calf injury, which was caused by a muscle strain.
- This injury is considered so serious that Hazlewood will not be able to play even in the remaining domestic Test season.
This is not the first time Hazlewood has been out due to injury.
- He was also absent in the day-night Test (second match) played in Adelaide due to the same problem.
- Australia had won that match by 10 wickets.
Hazlewood is extremely disappointed with his injury and his absence could prove to be a big challenge for Australia's bowling attack.
Scott Boland: A Strong Choice
Scott Boland, who is considered the leading candidate to replace Hazlewood, has impressed with his performances in recent times.
- Brett Lee praised him and said that Boland can prove to be an important player for Australia.
- However, it will not be easy to match Hazlewood's experience and skill.
The way forward for Australia
Despite Hazlewood's injury, Australia still have options in the form of Scott Boland and other fast bowlers.
- The team will have to enter the field strongly in the fourth test, because the series is tied at 1-1 and this match can prove to be decisive for both the teams.
