Bharti Airtel clears 2016 spectrum liabilities by paying Rs 3,626 crore

Delhi Delhi. Bharti Airtel has made an advance payment of Rs 3,636 crore to the Department of Telecommunications (Government of India) to clear its dues for the spectrum it won in the 2016 auction. Subsequently, Airtel has settled all its outstanding liabilities which carry an interest rate of 8.65%. During this calendar year, the Sunil Mittal-promoted telecom operator paid Rs 28,320 crore towards spectrum liabilities. In June, the telecom carrier paid in advance all its deferred liabilities for spectrum acquired in the 2012 and 2015 auctions. The total amount was Rs 7,904 crore. Earlier, Airtel had repaid part of its deferred liabilities for spectrum acquired in the 2015 auction, amounting to Rs 8,325 crore.
