Gaikwad took command of CSK last season
Before IPL 2024, MS Dhoni had handed over the command of Chennai Super Kings to Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, Gaikwad's first season as captain was not good. CSK could not even qualify for the playoffs. CSK finished the last season at fifth place in the points table. The team had won 7 out of 14 matches and lost 7.
RCB had qualified
In the last league match of IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the playoffs by defeating CSK. RCB also won 7 out of 14 matches. However, after reaching the playoffs, RCB had to face defeat by 4 wickets against Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator match. Now when Chennai and RCB face each other in IPL 2025, a very exciting match is going to be seen.
