Raju Singh achieves double podium finish in FEI CCI 3* event

Delhi Delhi: Raju Singh headlined the FEI Concours Complete International (CCI) 3* (Short) event held at 61 Cavalry, Jaipur from 15-18 December, dominating the competition with two podium finishes and securing a place in Thailand next year. Secured a place for the Asian Continental Championships to be held in Pattaya. Singh secured first place with his horse Mavilan and second place with Matakali, further cementing his supremacy in this prestigious event.

Showcasing their skills, Singh, Pradeep Kumar and Kumbhar Mahesh's Sharayu also successfully cleared the challenging minimum eligibility requirements – by completing the event with a penalty of 48 or less – and will be part of the Indian team at the Asian Continental Championships.

On the performance of the riders, EFI Secretary General Colonel Jaiveer Singh said: “The extraordinary performance seen here in Jaipur shows the growing potential of equestrian sports in India. The success of the Sharyus of Raju Singh, Pradeep Kumar and Kumbhar Mahesh at this event is an important milestone, and their achievements, especially with the Indian team's MER qualification, set an inspiring precedent for the upcoming Asian Championships in Pattaya .

Competing on two consecutive days in the dressage test, show jumping and cross country, Singh earned the top podium in the latter with Mavilan and second place with Matkali, earning 38.8 and 40.6 penalty points respectively. Kumar followed with the horse Parinda in third place with 42.3 penalty points, while Sharyu, with the horse Indian Glory also finished within the MER with a score of 46.7.

Furthermore, in the dressage test, Kumar limited himself to 33.5 penalty points, ahead of both Singh and Sharyu. Meanwhile, Singh continued his excellent performance by capturing the top two positions in show jumping, scoring 38.4 points with Mavilan and 40.6 points with Matkali. Lieutenant Colonel Ashish Malik, aboard De Baun de Landet, stood third in show jumping with a score of 41.1.

The competition featured notable performances from a diverse group of riders, particularly in the cross country section. Neel Kamal aboard Rajpal Singh Rock finished fifth with a score of 55.0, followed by Vishwanath P Shankar aboard Amar with a score of 55.4. Shiv Hooda on Velocity finished seventh with 57.4, while Rana Pratap Singh on Ghalib finished eighth with a score of 67.1. Lieutenant Colonel Apoorva Dabhade aboard Sayaji finished ninth with a score of 106.0, and Vishwanath P Shankar aboard Param rounded out the top ten with a score of 133.4.
