Abhishek and Parneet clinch individual titles
The experienced Indian compound archers, Abhishek Verma, and Parneet Kaur clinched the individual titles at the 2024 National Archery Championships in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand on Thursday.
Abhishek Verma got the better of Uday Kamboj while Parneet Kaur registered a win against Shristi Singh to win the gold medal in men’s and women’s compound individual categories respectively.
Meanwhile, Aman Saini of Delhi clinched the bronze medal in the men’s compound Individual category with a win against Simranjot Singh in the bronze medal match.
On the other hand, Jasveen Kaur clinched the bronze medal in the women’s compound Individual category after winning the bronze medal match against Swati Dudhwal of Rajasthan.
Maharashtra showed dominance in the team events.
Maharashtra’s archers had a very good outing at the Nationals as they clinched both the men’s and women’s team compound titles and a silver medal in the mixed team compound event.
Maharashtra started the day with the title in the men’s team (led by experienced players like Prathamesh Fuge) after they outclassed (235-231) a strong services team in the final. Haryana’s men’s team clinched the bronze medal.
The Maharashtra women’s team led by star archer Aditi Swami made it a double gold for their state after a dominating (234-220) win over Rajasthan in the final. Punjab’s women’s team clinched the bronze medal.
However, they missed out on the hat trick of team titles after losing to Punjab in the mixed-team compound final. Meanwhile, the mixed team bronze medal went in the favor of the Rajasthan team.
