The cause of the fire is not known at this time, but the Taichung government said the fire spread rapidly due to the large amount of foam panels at the site. According to Taiwanese media, one person died after jumping from the third floor, while firefighters recovered the bodies of other victims during rescue operations and 19 people were rescued.
