Japanese chain Genki Sushi eyes first Vietnam restaurant next year
Japanese sushi restaurant chain operator Genki Global Dining Concepts is considering opening outlets in Vietnam amid its Southeast Asian expansion.
The company, which runs the Genki Sushi, Uobei and Senryo restaurant brands, plans to launch the first outlet in the country in fiscal 2025, which begins in March, and add three more by fiscal 2027, Nikkei Asia reported.

It opened the first Thailand location in October, with menu including tuna and salmon with cilantro and a spicy sauce to cater to local consumers.
In the U.S., Genki Global plans to launch five stores in Texas in the next two fiscal years. It already has 11 restaurants in the country.
“Once it gets on track, we will consider expansion to such other states as Arizona and Florida,” said president Mitsunori Azuma.
The company has so far been prioritizing China in its expansion. As of this month its number of international outlets are set to reach 244.
