RCB did not use RTM for Siraj for this reason, team director told the inside story
IPL 2025: In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore first released their star fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and then did not even use RTM for him. This decision of RCB surprised everyone. However, now the franchise's Director of Cricket Mo Bobat has explained the reason behind why the franchise did this.
Reaction given on releasing Siraj
RCB showed the way to the auction by releasing Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Whereas Siraj was a part of the team since 2018 i.e. 7 years.
Now regarding the release of Siraj, RCB Director of Cricket has said that, 'It is important to understand what Siraj has done for RCB in the last several years. He has been our champion player. Not retaining him was one of our toughest decisions, if not the toughest.
Wanted to buy Bhubaneswar
In the IPL 2025 auction, RCB bought Bhuvneshwar Kumar for Rs 10 crore 75 lakh. The franchise really spent a huge amount to add this experienced pacer.
On this Bobat said, 'Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) was very high on our list, and we wanted to give him a chance. Unfortunately, the way the auction is conducted, with Bhuvi arriving quite late, it's like a game of poker where you have to keep your composure and see if you can wait for a player or No, and sometimes you do and sometimes you don't.
RCB could not buy Siraj for this reason
Royal Challengers Bangalore surprised everyone by not using the right to card for Mohammed Siraj. Mo Bobat said about not being able to buy Siraj, 'Unfortunately, due to our priorities, auction order and spending style, it was not possible for us to add Siraj. Again, this is pretty much the same for some other players as well. Both Faf du Plessis and Will Jacques were definitely players we wanted to take under right-to-match if things go a certain way.
