“There should be a stadium whose one gate open in India, other in Pakistan”: Former opener reacts to hybrid model for ICC tournaments
Former Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad gave an interesting reaction to the ICC decision of a hybrid model for the upcoming tournaments in two neighboring countries. He urged India and Pakistan to build a stadium on the border and play cricket against each other.
On the Nadir Ali podcast, he was about his opinion on India not coming to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He mentioned that there is a need to construct a venue where two arch-rivals can compete against each other. However, Shehzad feels the Indian government will have an issue with that as well.
“There should be a stadium on the border with one gate in India and the other in Pakistan. Their players can enter from there and our cricketers from here. I think the BCCI and the Indiann government will have a problem with that. They will say that if our players come to their side of the ground, the visa will not be given,” he said.
Shehzad reminded that all the cricket boards, including the BCCI, had signed a letter when Pakistan was given the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy 2025.
“Pakistan had a chance to host the Indian team as all cricketers boards signed the agreement letter in 2021 when the rights of the tournament were alloted to our country,” he added.
He is sure that India will never come to Pakistan to play cricket.
