10 fastest-growing airports in Southeast Asia

Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand topped the list with 394,577 additional seats this month, marking a 16% year-on-year increase.

The ranking was based on the numbers of seat capacity added in December.

Singapore’s Changi Airport ranked second with 326,712 new seats, a 10% increase.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia secured third place with an 11% increase, equivalent to 240,000 additional seats.

Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport ranked fourth with an impressive 39% growth, adding over 227,000 seats.

Phuket International Airport, also in Thailand, completed the top five with nearly 160,000 additional seats, reflecting a 31% increase.

Denpasar-Bali International Airport in Indonesia ranked sixth with a 16% rise in seat capacity, or more than 104,000 additional seats.

Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport recorded a 15% increase to second seventh place, adding nearly 96,000 seats, fueled by a rebound in tourism.

Phu Quoc International Airport on Vietnam’s largest island saw a remarkable 176% surge in international seat capacity, the highest percentage growth among the top 10 airports, to rank eighth.

Phu Quoc attracted over 5.9 million visitors this year, including 962,000 international tourists, up 73.4% compared to last year. Industry experts credit the island’s growth to extensive media coverage and numerous international accolades.

Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines ranked ninth with a 6% increase, adding over 73,000 seats.

Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport rounded out the top 10 with a 7% year-on-year growth, adding more than 62,000 seats.
