New Delhi: Netflix’s latest offering, Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famousa documentary on the Punjabi singer, offers a glimpse into his stardom and heart-wrenching downfall, struggle with mental health, divorce and a comeback. The singer has been engulfed in several controversies over the years.

1. Shah Rukh Khan slapped Honey Singh?
There were rumours a few years back that actor Shah Rukh Khan slapped Honey Singh during a tour. Now, he addressed the same and narrated the entire incident in his Netflix documentary, Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous. He revealed that SRK asked him to come for the ‘Slam’ tour and the next day, they left for America. They were travelling back and fourth to America for four days when he started getting symptoms of the bipolar disorder, which is when “somebody spread rumours that Shah Rukh slapped Honey Singh”. Clarifying the rumours, he said, “That man loves me so much, he could never slap me”.
2. Honey Singh on his mental breakdown in Chicago
Honey Singh further narrated what happened in Chicago when he was on a tour with Shah Rukh Khan. He shared that he didn’t wanted to do the Chicago show and he felt like he will “die during the show”. He felt that someone is “staging conspiracy” against him. After he denied getting ready, management asked him the reason. He then went to the washroom and trimmed his hair, and asked, “How will you make me perform now?” But the management said they will make him wear a hat but he denied performing. He then took a coffee mug and hit it on his head.
3. When Honey Singh ‘wished for death’
The Punjabi rapper and singer also opened up about his struggle with mental illness. He shared that he would get “scared even when maid used to come”. thinking that she would be laughing at him or “wiping blood off the floor”. He revealed that he “wished for death every day and would spend his days sleeping, crying and not meeting anyone”. He also shared that he saw “hell” as his days would not end. He also felt “somebody was going to die”.
4.Honey Singh’s sister accuses his ex-wife Shalini
In the Honey Singh’s documentary on Netflix, the rapper’s sister accused his ex-wife Shalini of forcing him to work when he was crying for help. Just before a performance, he was showing clear signs of mental illness. Honey Singh then messaged his sister that something is not right with him and told her, “Mujhe please bacha lo, gudiya mujhe please bacha le”. She then reached to his wife Shalini, who in return asked her to convince Honey to perform but she denied. Three hours later, the Punjabi singer was hospitalised with stitches in his head.
5.Honey Singh on his divorce
Honey Singh revealed that he can’t talk about his sand his ex-wife Shalini’s out of court settlement as they both have signed MoU but wished her best of luck. He further added that the circle of life keeps coming back and at the end, everything finds balance. He also said that he believes in the saying, “What goes around, comes around”.
