Haryana schools closed today amid former CM Chautala’s demise; check reopen date here

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has decided to close all educational institutions in the state on December 21. The decision was taken as the state is observing three days of mourning for the death of former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala. The state government has also declared a three-day state mourning till Sunday.

OP Chautala, who was also the president of the Indian National Lok Dal, passed away in Gurugram on December 20 at the age of 89. As a tribute, the government declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Haryana. All the state government offices and other departments will remain closed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Haryana’s Directorate of School Education also issued an order in the evening declaring December 21 a holiday for all schools in the state. Let’s find out when will Haryana schools reopen.

Haryana schools closed on December 21

The government only issued an order to close schools on Saturday in view of the death of former CM Om Prakash Chautala. There was no mention of reopening schools and colleges. Therefore, we can expect all schools and colleges to reopen on Monday (December 23).

Parents and students are suggested to keep following the Haryana’s school department portal and be in touch with school authorities regarding the reopening of schools.

Haryana school winter holidays

The Haryana government is likely to announce winter vacations for schools soon amid cold wave warnings. Sources suggest that Haryana schools will have winter vacations from January 1 to 15, 2024. However, there is no official confirmation from the authorities yet.
