Pushpa 2 Crosses Rs 1000 Crore Mark on Day 16 | Read
Director Sukumar’s highly anticipated film, Pushpa 2: The Rule crossed the Rs 1000 crore nett mark in India. According to film business tracking website Sacnilk, Allu Arjun’s film is a bonafide blockbuster, and has collected Rs 1004.35 crore nett in just 16 days, with its third Friday collection being around Rs 13.75 crore.
The film’s impressive performance can be attributed to its strong storyline appeasing the masses, engaging characters, and Allu Arjun’scaptivating portrayal of Pushpa Raj, a red sandalwood smuggler. Pushpa 2: The Rule has not only dominated the Indian box office but has also made a significant impact worldwide, grossing Rs 1508 crore within 14 days of its release.
In the Hindi market, the film has performed exceptionally well, collecting Rs 632.50 crore nett in just 15 days, surpassing the likes of Rajkummar Rao and Stree 2, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, and Prabhas’ Baahubali 2. The film’s success has been consistent, with its first-week collection being Rs 725.8 crore nett and its second-week collection being Rs 264.8 crore net, despite a 63.52% decrease in numbers between the two weeks.
The only film in India that stands to be beaten by Pushpa 2: The Rule is SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The film’s producers, Mythri Movie Makers, have announced that the film will not be released on OTT platforms until 56 days after its theatrical debut, allowing fans to enjoy it on the big screen during the holiday season.
Allu Arjun, the star of Pushpa 2, was recently arrested and granted interim bail in connection with a fan’s death at the film’s premiere in Hyderabad. Despite this setback, the film continues to thrive, with fans flocking to theatres.
Pushpa 2: The Rule’s box office dominance is set to face a challenge as two new releases enter the fray. Mufasa: The Lion King, which hit cinemas on December 20, is expected to draw in family audiences during the holiday season, particularly with the Hindi version featuring the voices of Shah Rukh Khan and his sons Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan, generating significant buzz in India.
Additionally, Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, backed by Atlee, is slated to release on December 25, posing another threat to Pushpa 2: The Rule’s reign. The competition between the two films is already heating up, with a screen-sharing dispute brewing between their distributors. As the holiday season gets underway, it remains to be seen how Pushpa 2: The Rule will fare against these new contenders.
