Arrest warrant issued against Robin Uthappa
Former India player Robin Uthappa, who is the director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd, has landed in a problem after a warrant was issued against him for PF fund fraud. The firm didn’t deposit INR 23 lakh deducted from the salaries of his employees into their PF accounts.
The police station in East Bengaluru was told to execute the warrant against the player. The police revealed the cricketer currently resides in Dubai and not at the address mentioned in the warrant.
The officials have returned the warrant to the PF office in KR Puram, informing them that Uttappa no longer falls in their jurisdiction. According to TOI, police revealed that no FIR was registered against Uthappa as no one has come forward with a complaint.
Uthappa continues to play in different T20 leagues across the world. He recently captained India in the Hong Kong six-a-side tournament. Apart from his cricket commitments, he has become a cricket expert and analyzed Team India’s matches and also the Indian Premier League. Robin was a part of Team India, which won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. He played a couple of handful knocks in the tournament.
Robin was renowned for his aggressive batting, and hitting a shot over the bowler’s head was his trademark stroke. Due to inconsistency, he didn’t have a long career with the Men in Blue. The right-handed batter represented several franchises in the Indian Premier League, the KKR being the most fruitful for the batter.
