Twitter reacts to Owen’s gigantic six gifts Bellerive’s bored kids with treasure hunt activity

A one-sided affair in sports can get boring, and the Bellerive Oval spectators felt the same during Perth Scorcher’s defense against the Hobart Hurricanes on Saturday. However, Mitchell Owen’s six into the bushes happened to amuse the fans into a treasure trove activity, removing boredom.

Winning the toss and electing to field first paid dividends for the Hurricanes as Riley Meredith and Waqar Salamkheil picked up a couple of big wickets inside the mandatory powerplay. However, Josh Inglis and Keaton Jennings’ valiant efforts put the Scorchers out of scrutiny but the lower order failed to score against disciplined slog over bowling. Chasing 156-run target, Owen got off to a flying start despite an early setback with a huge six rubbishing boredom out of a one-sided affair.

The third ball of the ninth over saw Ashton Aga come around the wicket and bowl a length delivery into the right-hander. The white rock sat up well for Owen who rocked back and pulled it over deep mid-wicket towards the Digital scoreboard display for a huge six. The timing on the stroke was such that the 100-metre six went towards the bushes, allowing a few kids stationed in that area to hunt the ball into the thicket. Seeing the kids’ boredom turn into a treasure hunt competition, the Twitterverse was left abuzz.
