Arrest warrant issued against Robin Uthappa, you will be shocked to know the whole matter
Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has come into the limelight for all the wrong reasons and his troubles are about to increase. An arrest warrant has been issued against Uthappa for alleged fraud in respect of provident fund contributions of employees in a textile company run by him.
Uthappa has time till December 27 to pay the dues of around Rs 24 lakh, otherwise he can be arrested. It is noteworthy that Uthappa is the director of Bengaluru-based Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd. Regional PF Commissioner Sadakshari Gopal Reddy, in the arrest warrant issued on December 4, said that the company failed to pay compensation of approximately Rs 23,36,602, which is to be recovered from the former Team India player.
The 39-year-old former batsman is accused of deducting provident fund from the salaries of his employees but not depositing the amount in his employees' accounts. The letter states that due to non-payment of dues, this office is unable to settle the provident fund accounts of poor workers. The letter asks the police to arrest Mr Uthappa and return the warrant by December 27. In such a situation, the coming days are going to be very important for Uthappa because if he fails to pay the damages, he can also be arrested.
If we talk about Uthappa's career, he has played 59 international matches for India and has been a popular player in the Indian Premier League. He has scored a total of 1,183 runs in international cricket and has seven half-centuries to his name. At present, after retirement, Uthappa is seen playing in many leagues of retired cricketers.
