R Ashwin’s wife pens an emotional note on his retirement, Check inside
Family matters a lot to Ravichandran Ashwin, and it’s only because time and again, Ashwin explained how much his wife and two daughters meant to him. So, after Ashwin decided to announce his retirement from cricket after a long, illustrious career, Prithi came out with a long emotional post about what it was to see one of the greatest cricketers of the generation from such close quarters. Ashwin decided to hang his international boots with two Tests left in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
“It has been a blurry two days for me. I have been pondering what I can say. Should I put this down as a tribute to my all-time favorite cricketer? Maybe take the partner angle? Or maybe a love letter from a fan girl? I guess this is a little bit of all of it,” wrote Prithi Narayanan in an Instagram post.
“When I saw the Ashwin’s PC, there were so many tiny and huge moments that flashed back. So many memories over the past 13-14 years. The greatest victories , the various MOS prize distributions, the eerie silence in our room post an exciting match, the sound of the shower running for much longer than usual on some evenings post play, the scratch of pencil over paper as he jots thoughts down, his streaming videos when he is making game plans, the calm of meditative breathing before each game for an athlete preparing mentally to depart, certain songs playing in endless loops while he unwinds.
“We wiped in happiness- after the CT final, after winning MCG, after the ruined match at Sydney, The Gabba win, after coming back in T20s..the times we sat in silence and the times when we had our hearts broken.”
Prithi went on to give a long post in the social media about what it was like witnessing Ashwin’s journey from a close quarter.
