There were 1,08,940 seats for the MBBS course in 2023-24. It has increased to 1,15,812 in 2024-25. Total 766 colleges: The number of medical colleges in the country in 2023-24 was 706. The number of medical colleges has increased to 766 by 2024-25. It is noteworthy that in 2013-14 this number was 387.
In the last 10 years alone, 379 new medical colleges have been started. At present there are 423 government medical colleges and 343 private medical colleges functioning in the country. Similarly, seats for medical courses have also been increased. There were 69,024 seats for postgraduate medical studies in 2023-24. It has increased to 73,111 in 2024-25.
Increase in postgraduate seats: The number of medical postgraduate seats has increased from 39,460 to 73,111 in the last 10 years. It was decided to establish AIIMS Hospital in Darbhanga in the year 2020. But there was a problem in allotting space there for a long time. In this case, Bihar Government has allotted 150.13 acres of land to the Central Government on August 12. AIIMS Hospital will start work there soon. He said so.
