Delhi Airport Becomes 1st Airport To Connect 150 Destinations
On Monday, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) announced that Indira Gandhi International Airport has achieved a major milestone by connecting to 150 destinations. This was made possible with the launch of direct flights between Delhi and Bangkok-Don Mueang (DMK) by Thai AirAsia X on Sunday, as per an official release. DIAL also highlighted that it is the first airport in the country to establish connectivity to 150 destinations. The airport manages approximately 1,400 flight movements every day.
“Delhi Airport Sets Up Special Enclosures for Delayed Flight Passengers”
In a recent development, special enclosures have been set up at Delhi airport for passengers arriving on flights delayed for over three hours. This initiative allows for quicker re-entry to the terminal for their respective flights. To minimize discomfort and waiting time, these passengers will undergo a separate security check process, bypassing the usual procedure, to return directly to the Security Hold Area (SHA), as per the airport operator DIAL.
The government has eased security protocols at airports, permitting passengers of flights delayed by over three hours or cancelled due to weather, fog, or technical issues to disembark and return to the terminal. In response to these relaxed norms, DIAL has established special enclosures at all three terminals—T1, T2, and T3—to facilitate their re-entry.
“Delhi Airport Introduces Enclosures for Smooth Security Re-entry”
According to the release from Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), these enclosures, which range from 250 to 450 square meters, can accommodate between 55 and 120 passengers at a time. They are designed to streamline security screening, ensuring passengers can smoothly re-enter the terminal’s Security Hold Area (SHA).
Summary:
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) announced that Indira Gandhi International Airport has connected to 150 destinations, with the launch of a direct flight to Bangkok. DIAL also set up special enclosures for passengers of delayed flights, allowing quicker re-entry through separate security checks to the Security Hold Area.
