BSNL Expands 4G Network in Bihar with 2000 New Towers
In a significant move towards enhancing digital connectivity in rural India, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has successfully installed 2,000 new 4G towers across Bihar. The initiative is aimed at providing high-speed connectivity, especially in underserved regions, and positioning BSNL as a cost-effective alternative amidst the rising tariffs of private telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vi.
Affordable Plans Drive User Shift to BSNL
BSNL has retained its recharge plans at pre-hike prices, in stark contrast to private telecom providers. This affordability has drawn a significant number of users to the government-owned telecom operator. The addition of 2,000 new towers is part of BSNL’s broader strategy to expand its network and cater to the growing demand for affordable high-speed connectivity.
Connecting 200 Villages to 4G
The new infrastructure has connected 200 previously underserved villages in Bihar. Districts like Rohtas, Gaya, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Munger, Nawada, and Jamui are now experiencing reliable 4G services for the first time. A total of 74 mobile towers have been deployed specifically to cover these remote areas, enabling seamless communication and improved internet access.
Nationwide 4G Rollout Progress
The upgrades in Bihar are part of BSNL’s ambitious plan to establish 10,000 4G sites across the country. This nationwide rollout aims to address network connectivity issues and deliver a faster, more reliable experience for users, solidifying BSNL’s position as a viable alternative in the telecom market.
Supporting the Government’s Digital Vision
BSNL’s efforts align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative, which focuses on bridging the digital divide and empowering citizens through technology. The rollout of 4G services in Bihar and other parts of India underscores the company’s commitment to the government’s vision of a digitally connected nation.
