Big update on captain Rohit's injury, he got injured in the net during training.
Melbourne: Indian captain Rohit Sharma suffered a left knee injury during a training session at the MCG here on Sunday but the severity of the injury is not yet known. The Indian team took part in a full practice session here and Rohit suffered a knee injury at the end of his batting session on a throwdown ball from support staff Dayanand Garani. Rohit was in pain and was seen applying an ice pack on his left knee.
However, fast bowler Akash Deep later said that the captain is 'fine'. The Indian team will not train on Monday so the captain can get time to recover. Meanwhile, the Indian team was not at all happy with the practice pitches provided for training for the match.

Bounce is expected on the MCG pitch but there was not much bounce on the practice pitches, which will not help much in gauging the situation of the match. Not providing good practice pitches for practice can definitely put the Indians in some trouble.
Please note that the Indian team is not facing any fitness problem before the fourth Test match against Australia starting from 26th December. Both these players suffered the injury while facing a throw down during a practice session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Both these players were looking somewhat uncomfortable. Rohit continued batting practice despite hurting his left knee but was later treated by a physiotherapist. He sat with his legs crossed on the chair for some time and then went away silently. No official information has been received yet about Rohit's condition but Akash said that it is a minor injury sustained during practice.

“When you play cricket, minor injuries like this are common,” he said at a press conference. I think this wicket prepared for practice is for white ball cricket and that is why some of the balls were staying low on it.” Akash said, “Such injuries are common during practice. There are no major concerns regarding injury.”
Let us tell you that Rohit could not play in the first Test match due to the birth of his son, but after this he struggled to score runs in the next two matches. So far he has been able to score only 19 runs in three innings. Just last Saturday, opening batsman KL Rahul also got injured in his hand. The five-match series being played between India and Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy is currently tied at 1-1. (with agency input)
