What is Aam Aadmi Party's Sanjeevani scheme in Delhi, know – how will the elderly get the benefits?
Sanjivani Yojana: Former Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has announced Sanjeevani Yojana. Under the scheme, elderly persons above 60 years of age will get complete treatment for free. This is the reason why the party has presented it to the people as 'Kejriwal's guarantee'. Only people of Delhi can register for Sanjeevani Yojana. However, they will get the benefits of the scheme only if AAP forms the government in Delhi after the elections.

Features of Sanjeevani Yojana
According to the information received, under the Sanjeevani scheme, treatment will be provided to the elderly without any discrimination. They will not be discriminated against on the basis of caste, religion, gender, community, rich or poor. If someone is elderly and if he is ill, he will get free treatment. If you have a voter card of Delhi, then you can register to get the benefits of this scheme.

If you understand in simple words, if you are sick or a senior citizen, then you are eligible to get the benefit of Sanjeevani Yojana. Just as the AAP government's plan to provide free pilgrimage to the elderly has been successful, similarly it is expected that the Sanjeevani scheme will also prove to be important for the people of Delhi.

How many elderly people in Delhi?
In the 2001 census, the number of elderly people was 7.19 lakh and 5.2 percent. Ten years later, in 2011, the percentage of elderly people increased to 6.8. In 2018, 21 lakh senior citizens were living in Delhi, which was 8.5 percent of the total population. In the year 2021, this percentage has increased to 9.7. In such a situation, it can be roughly said that in 2024, 10 percent of the elderly population may live in Delhi. This means that Delhi, with a population of 2 crore, has more than 20 lakh elderly people.
