'He is right-handed Wasim Akram'…, this Australian legend never gets tired of praising Bumrah.
Cricket News Desk. Former Australian batsman and coach Justin Langer has compared Jasprit Bumrah with Wasim Akram. Speaking before the Boxing Day Test match, Langer praised Bumrah and said that facing the Indian fast bowler is a nightmare for the batsmen. Bumrah is in great form at the moment and is making waves in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah, who is leading the Indian fast bowling attack, has taken 21 wickets after 3 Test matches. Bumrah's ability to seam and swing the new ball has worked for the Indians.
'The right-handed version of Akram'
Justin Langer told The Nightly, 'I don't like facing him at all. He is like Wasim Akram. For me, it is right-handed Wasim Akram and whenever I am asked 'who is the best bowler you have played with', I say, Wasim Akram.
Nightmare for batsmen
Langer further said, 'He has good pace and great bowlers bowl at the same place every time and he also has a good bouncer. Hence it becomes a nightmare for them. He has the ability to swing the ball both ways. Its seams are really excellent.
The former Australian coach said, 'If you introduce the right seam and it comes out of the fingers in the right way, as it does with him, then the batsman is trapped. Swing in the right position and if the ball comes onto the pitch from the thread, it can go in any direction. “Akram used to do this and it was a nightmare to face him,” he said.
Langer also said, 'I don't like facing Bumrah at all. He bowls at good pace and he is brilliant. I had said at the beginning of the series (Border Gavaskar Trophy) that if Bumrah remains fit, it will be a very difficult series for the Australian batsmen. If he doesn't stop then I think Australia will easily win the series and I still believe so. The fourth Test match between India and Australia will be played in Melbourne from 26 December.
