Republic Day Parade: As Delhi Assembly elections approach, the political conflict between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP has intensified. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused the central government of doing vendetta politics against his party. He said that for this reason Delhi's tableau was not kept in the Republic Day parade. Kejriwal also attacked BJP and said that since Delhi is the national capital, its tableau should be in the parade every year.

Kejriwal said the Center deliberately kept Delhi's tableau out of the Republic Day parade, but the Defense Ministry said the selection of the tableau under the roster system was fair. The ministry said it follows a roster that allows 15 states and union territories to participate every three years. Sources said that Delhi was also nominated for 2025, but the tableau selection committee did not accept it.

Why was Delhi's tableau out?
Responding to Kejriwal's allegations, the Defense Ministry said that the election process of Tableau is completely fair and transparent. The ministry said that there is a rotation system for this, in which fifteen states and union territories are allowed to participate every three years. Delhi was also shortlisted for tableau till 2025, but the selection committee did not approve it.
The government clarified that Mizoram and Sikkim did not include the tableaux of other states and union territories for 2025, while Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands did not participate in the selection meetings. Defense Ministry sources said Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal relied on merit and creativity in the selection process and not on political connections. He said that despite being governed by Punjab, the selection process is fair.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva hit back at AAP President Kejriwal and said that whenever any national festival comes, Kejriwal shows his 'true colours'. Assembly elections are likely to be held in Delhi in February.
Sachdeva said, “Delhi people have not forgotten the incident of 2014, when the entire city was preparing to celebrate Republic Day, but Kejriwal tarnished its dignity by protesting,” Sachdeva said, adding that during the Republic Day parade, The selection of tableaux is done by a nominated committee and their number is limited, which Kejriwal is well aware of. “Since elections are approaching in Delhi, Kejriwal wants to divert people's attention from real issues.”

At the press conference, Kejriwal targeted BJP and said that its election campaign has “no discourse, vision or program for the people of Delhi.” He said what will they do if they form the government.” Also, Kejriwal claimed that the BJP is only focused on “bashing Kejriwal from morning till night”. He claimed that BJP's only aim is to 'remove Kejriwal', and questioned whether people should vote for a party just because it abuses others.
