Relief to accused MP Karti Chidambaram in INX Media case, court allows him to go abroad
New Delhi: Today, a court in the country's capital Delhi has given permission to Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, accused in the INX Media case, to travel to Austria and Britain between January 4 and 12. In this regard, today the court also mentioned that he has never misused the freedom given to him in the past.
Today, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, in an order passed on December 17, allowed Karti Chidambaram to travel to Vienna (Austria) and Britain to attend events related to his company and meet his daughter.
In this regard, Justice Kaveri Baweja said, “It is a matter of record that the applicant had already sought permission from the court on several occasions to travel abroad and he had always been given permission by the Supreme Court and this court as well and he had never “Did not abuse the immunity or freedom given by the court.”

Please note that Special Public Prosecutor NK Matta, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), opposed Karti Chidambaram's application, saying that he may misuse the freedom.
It is noteworthy that, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered a case on May 15, 2017, in which irregularities were found in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board approval given to INX Media Group to receive foreign funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007.
