Pakistan won the ODI series against South Africa 3-0

Opener Sam Ayub scored 101 runs in 94 balls, helping Pakistan score 308-9 in Wanderers. Due to rain the game was reduced to 47 overs. Chasing the winning target of 308, South Africa was all out for 271 runs in 42 overs. Pakistan batted first after losing the toss and were tied at 1-1 when Abdullah Shafiq was out in the first over. The innings started with two important partnerships from Ayub – 114 runs with Babar Azam (52 ​​out of 71) for the second wicket and 93 runs with captain Mohammad Rizwan (53 out of 52) for the third wicket.

22-year-old Ayub, who scored 109 runs in the first ODI, had to be caught behind the wicket against debutant Corbin Bosch. Ayub hit two sixes and 13 fours. Middle-order batsman Salman Agha led the score with 48 runs off 33 balls. South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets for 56 runs. In reply, Heinrich Klaasen top-scored for the hosts with 81 runs off 43 balls. Made and Bosch scored 40 not out. Pakistan's spinner Sufiyan Muqeem took 4 wickets for 52 runs in eight overs.

Pakistan had already clinched the ODI series, winning the first match by three wickets and the second ODI by 81 runs. South Africa won the three-match Twenty20 series 2–0. The teams will play two Test matches in Centurion on Thursday. Pakistan's fifth consecutive bilateral ODI series win has put it in a strong position for the Champions Trophy in February.
