OnePlus Watch 3 launch date confirmed, may debut with LTE connectivity; View possible specifications
OnePlus Watch 3 launch in India: The Chinese electronics brand is preparing to unveil the OnePlus Watch 3 smartwatch on January 7, 2024, reportedly alongside the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R smartphones. Although the company has not yet revealed detailed specifications, the smartwatch is expected to offer significant upgrades over the existing OnePlus Watch 2.
A report by GSM Arena suggests that the OnePlus Watch 3 will feature a rotating crown, which is a hallmark of premium smartwatches known for their tactile and user-friendly interface. This additional feature is expected to improve navigation, giving users a more intuitive and responsive experience. The smartwatch may be offered in two color options.
Apart from the rotating crown, the OnePlus Watch 3 is expected to have a heart rate sensor and ECG functionality, although the latter will only be available in select regions.
Internally, the OnePlus Watch 3 is expected to run on the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC, which should deliver strong performance and energy efficiency. It will likely include 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which should facilitate smooth app operation, notifications, and fitness tracking. The device is expected to run on Watch OS 5 and RTOS, ensuring a smooth and functional user experience.
The smartwatch reportedly has a battery capacity of over 500 mAh, which promises enough longevity for everyday use. Some versions are expected to support LTE connectivity, allowing users to make calls, send messages and stream music without the need for a paired smartphone.
Interestingly, the OnePlus Watch 3 model that received TENAA certification in June had a 500 mAh battery and LTE support, although its design was different from the leaked renders. Another variant, labeled OPWWE251 and recently certified by the FCC, is rumored to include a larger 648 mAh battery, suggesting the possibility of multiple configurations.
Health tracking remains a major focus for modern smartwatches, and the OnePlus Watch 3 is expected to deliver in this area. With its heart rate sensor, ECG functionality will allow users to closely monitor their heart health. However, regulatory requirements may limit ECG facilities to specific areas.
The OnePlus Watch 3 is a significant step forward in the company's smartwatch lineup. With features like advanced health tracking, LTE connectivity, and a rotating crown, it aims to compete with premium devices from brands like Apple and Samsung.
Where the OnePlus Watch 2 targeted budget-conscious buyers, the Watch 3 appears to be targeting the high-end market, boasting advanced specifications and features.
