Cricket News Desk. India will play its Champions Trophy 2025 matches in the United Arab Emirates. The decision was taken after a meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Senior UAE Minister to Pakistan Sheikh Nahyan Al Mubarak. Sheikh Nahyan is also the head of the Emirates Cricket Board. The match between India and Pakistan will be played on 23 February. Apart from Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand are also in India's group. India will face Bangladesh on 20 February and New Zealand on 2 March. All these matches are likely to be held in Dubai.
First match between Pakistan and New Zealand
The current Champions Trophy winners Pakistan team will play the first match of the tournament against New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi. Pakistan's last league match will be played against Bangladesh on 27 February in Rawalpindi. The second group includes Afghanistan, Australia, England and South Africa. Apart from India, matches of both the groups will be played in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi. This claim has been made in a report by ESPNcricinfo.
There will be a reserve day for the final.
Both the semi-finals will be held on March 4 (without reserve day) and March 5 (with reserve day). A reserve day has also been scheduled for the final on March 9. If India reaches the semi-finals then the first semi-final will be played in UAE. If India fails to qualify then this match will be played in Pakistan. The final is to be held in Lahore, but if India reaches the final then there is a provision to hold it in UAE.
Pakistan will not come to India now.
The decision of this hybrid model has been taken after agreement between all the concerned parties. Under this agreement, Pakistan's matches in ICC competitions hosted by India will also be played at neutral venues till 2027. In all cases, knockout games such as semi-finals and finals will also be held at neutral venues. This agreement will start from the Champions Trophy. This will also apply to the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup to be held in India and the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
