In Assam University, on December 18 at 10.30 pm, a Burmese snake about 17 feet long was seen near gate number 1 of the hostel. Wildlife researcher and environmental conservationist Vishal Sonar, while talking to a local news website, said that Burmese pythons are often found in the campuses of our area. They often come out to hunt goats and small animals. As soon as information about the python was received, a team was sent to rescue it.

The task of capturing this 17 feet long and 100 kg python was very difficult. In which the help of security guards and students was taken and rescue operation was conducted. About 12 people from Barak Valley Wildlife Division took part in the rescue operation. While talking to the media, the rescue team said that such snakes have been seen a lot in the forests.
