Also present day Banswara was founded by the Bhil king Vahiya Charpota, who was also known as Raja Bansiya Bhil. And this city is also said to be named Banswara after his name. In 1530, this area was established as Banswara Rajwada, whose capital was Banswara. After independence i.e. before joining Rajasthan in 1948, it used to be a part of Dungarpur state. On the other hand, according to another legend, it is also believed that Banswara was founded by King Putraka. According to some records and government papers, Banswara was founded 510 years ago on 14 January 1515 by Raja Bansia Bhil on the day of Makar Sankranti.
