Rohit Sharma gives MASSIVE update on knee injury ahead of Boxing Day Test
The India captain suffered an injury scare on Sunday after getting hit on the knee during India’s second practice session at the MCG
India skipper Rohit Sharma gave a positive update on his knee injury during the pre-match press conference on Thursday. The 37-year-old stated that he is fit for the upcoming Boxing Day Test in Melbourne which is set to commence from December 26.
Indian fans got quite concerned after Rohit faced an injury scare after getting hit on his left knee during India’s second practice session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday. According to reports, Rohit went to bat on for a little longer, but was tended soon after.
However, Rohit dismissed all doubts regarding his fitness and stated that he was completely fine ahead of the all important Boxing Day Test.
“It’s fine,” Rohit stated when asked about his knee injury during the press conference.
“Nothing has changed since I last spoke about it. We’ve has two sessions, and in those sessions, what can change?” Rohit added.
The India skipper, who missed the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar series in Perth due to the birth of his second child, wasn’t able to impress in the next 2 Tests held in Adelaide and Brisbane respectively. The 37-year-old has only scored a total of 19 runs in the 3 innings that he has featured in the series so far.
Rohit also stated that the pitches that the Indian team has been training on for the last couple of days were all used pitches.
“Those pitches in which we trained for the last couple of days were used pitches. Perhaps they were used for Big Bash. Now, today is the only day where we are going to get the other side of it, which will be a fresher wicket. So, we will go and see how it is and train accordingly,” Rohit said.
