IRCTC stops paying compensation on delay of private trains, big disclosure in RTI

New Delhi. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has discontinued the scheme to compensate passengers for delay in private trains. This has been revealed through Right to Information (RTI). IRCTC did not give the reason for this decision citing confidentiality.

This information came to light in response to an application filed by news agency 'PTI' under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) was established by the Railway Ministry with the basic objective of operating the entire catering and tourism activities of the Railways and currently it also does ticket booking and operation of private trains.
