ICC Champions Trophy 2025 schedule announced, 15 matches to be held between eight teams in 19 days
New Delhi. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the schedule for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, which will be held from February 19 to March 09 in Pakistan and UAE. In this competition lasting 19 days, 15 matches will be played between eight teams. For the first time since 1996, Pakistan will host a global cricket tournament.
The teams have been divided into two groups for the Champions Trophy. Bangladesh, India, New Zealand and Pakistan will be in Group A, while Group B will contain Afghanistan, Australia, England and South Africa. Stadiums in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi in Pakistan will host the matches, while Dubai will host the matches in the United Arab Emirates.
The Champions Trophy will begin on February 19 with the opening day match between hosts Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi. Other key matches include Bangladesh taking on India on the second day of the competition in Dubai and Afghanistan taking on South Africa on February 21 in Karachi.
Australia will face England in one of cricket's most famous rivalries on February 22 in Lahore. Before this, Pakistan vs India match will be held in Dubai on 23 February.
The first semi-final of the competition will be played on 04 March in Dubai and the second semi-final will be played on 05 March in Lahore. The final match will be played in Lahore on 09 March. However, if India qualifies for the final, it will be played in Dubai. There will be reserve days in both the semi-finals and finals.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah said: “The ICC is delighted to release the schedule for the Men's Champions Trophy 2025, marking the much-awaited return of the tournament since 2017. An exciting competition, as eight teams compete to claim the coveted white jacket.” Will provide fans 15 matches of unforgettable entertainment.
He further added that “This edition will take place in Pakistan and the UAE, and with Dubai also serving as the home of the ICC Headquarters, it represents an opportunity to showcase the best of cricket with heritage and modernity. “This Champions Trophy is truly set to be an unforgettable celebration of the very best in world cricket.”
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said, “We are pleased to have reached an agreement based on the principles of equality and respect, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and collaboration that defines our game. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to ICC members who played a constructive role in helping us achieve mutually beneficial solutions.
