India vs Australia: Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah achieved a new achievement in cricket history by performing brilliantly on the second day of the third Test match against Australia at Gabba. Bumrah left the great all-rounder Kapil Dev behind in two major bowling parameters by taking five wickets.
Bumrah proved to be India's most important bowler in the Gabba Test, sending dangerous batsmen like Steven Smith and Travis Head to the pavilion. His brilliant performance was with figures of 5/72 in 25 overs at an economy rate of 2.90.
Bumrah's dominance outside Asia
Jasprit Bumrah has achieved the feat of taking five wickets 10 times outside Asia, leaving behind Kapil Dev's record of 9 times. Bumrah has achieved this feat thrice in Australia, thrice in South Africa and twice each in West Indies and England. In contrast, Kapil Dev took five wickets in Australia and twice each in England and West Indies.
Bumrah leads in SENA countries also
Bumrah has made a record of taking five wickets eight times in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) conditions. With this figure he left behind Kapil Dev (7) and Zaheer Khan (6).
History also created in the World Test Championship
Bumrah has now become the bowler with the third highest number of five-wicket hauls in the history of the ICC World Test Championship. He now has a total of 9 five-wicket hauls in his name, which is equal to Australia's Pat Cummins. Only Nathan Lyon (10) and Ravichandran Ashwin (11) are ahead of him in this list.
Bumrah's performance in 2024
This year Bumrah has taken the maximum number of 73 wickets in international cricket. He has taken four five-wicket hauls in 20 matches with an average of 13.78 and a best performance of 6/45. In 12 test matches, he has taken 58 wickets at an average of 15.20.
