When an unknown Sri Lankan looted the fish of fishermen and was arrested, CM Stalin wrote a letter to Jaishankar, made this request

Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday (December 24). Through the letter, CM Stalin has appealed to make diplomatic efforts for the immediate release of the fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Army.

What did Stalin write in the letter?

Referring to the incident in a letter to Jaishankar, CM Stalin has written that the Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 17 fishermen of Rameshwaram along with their boat. The registration numbers of these boats were IND-TN-10-MM-206 and IND-TN-10-MM-543. He has demanded to take some steps to stop the attacks.

Unknown Sri Lankan citizens attacked fishermen

Tamil Nadu CM has mentioned the attack on fishermen in Kodiyakkarai village of Nagapattinam district on 20 December 2024. Let us tell you, six unidentified Sri Lankan citizens had attacked two fishing boats, in which three fishermen were injured. The attackers had looted GPS equipment, VHF equipment, fishing nets, mobile phones and fish from the fishermen.

Due to such incidents, life of fishermen is in danger.

Regarding this incident, Tamil Nadu CM said that due to such incidents, the lives of fishermen are in danger. Fishermen depend on their traditional waters and face frequent arrests and attacks. Let us tell you, so far in 2024, 530 fishermen have been arrested and 71 fishing boats have been confiscated.
