According to statistics, it has been revealed that the state government of Kerala has earned huge money from liquor and lottery tickets.
According to data presented in the Assembly, Kerala's two major sources of revenue are liquor and lottery tickets. The government has deposited Rs 31,618.12 crore into its treasury from the income earned through the sale of liquor and lottery tickets. This is one fourth of the entire state's revenue.

The Kerala government has contributed Rs 19,088.86 crore from liquor sales to the state's revenue. In this state, the government earns the most from liquor, while the second is the income from lottery tickets. In comparison to liquor, an income of Rs 12,529.26 crore has been recorded from lottery sales. These figures show that together they account for about 25.4% of the state's total income.
How many rupees came into the government treasury?
The total income of the state for the financial year 2023-24 has been reported to be Rs 1,24,486.15 crore. Apart from this, concerns have also increased regarding unclaimed lottery gifts, as the state government is unable to find out how much revenue has been generated from the lottery. According to the Central Lottery Rules 2010, there is no need for any state government to create or maintain a record of the money received through lottery. Especially those lotteries whose winnings have not been claimed. The result of this is that the government has not given any accurate information regarding the figures of unclaimed lottery winners.

The total revenue of Kerala in the year 2022-23 was Rs 1,32,724.65 crore. This figure was several times higher than that of the year 2021-22.
