New Delhi:- President Draupadi Murmu honored 17 children with the Prime Minister's National Children's Award at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. These children were given this award for their amazing talent and courage. This time a total of 19 children, including 9 boys and 10 girls, from 14 states and union territories were selected for the award. The awards are given in seven fields like art-culture, bravery, innovation, science-technology, social work, sports and environment. Two children were not present at the award ceremony. Goldie and Saurabh from Bihar did wonders
Goldie Kumari, a disabled person from Nalanda, Bihar, was honored by the President in the sports category. Goldie won gold and silver medals at the World Para Olympic Youth Games held in Thailand. At the same time, 9 year old Saurabh Kumar of Shekhpura was honored for bravery. Saurabh saved three girls from drowning in the pond. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the award winning children on the occasion of 'Veer Bal Diwas' organized at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi. When did the National Children's Award start?
National Child Awards was started in 1996 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Its objective is to honor children for their extraordinary achievements. Indian citizens between the age of 5 to 18 years are eligible for this award. Every winner is given Rs 1 lakh in cash, a medal and a certificate. In 2018, awards in the field of bravery were also added to it.
