Virat Kohli's enthusiasm on the field proved costly, ICC gave strict punishment

After this incident, Virat Kohli was found guilty of violating the ICC Code of Conduct. He was fined 20% of his match fee and given one demerit point. According to ICC rules, players are strictly prohibited from engaging in any kind of physical contact during the match.

Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct states:

Any type of inappropriate physical contact is not allowed in cricket. If a player intentionally, recklessly or unintentionally collides with another player or the umpire, it will be considered a violation of the rules.

Ricky Ponting strongly criticized

The cricket world strongly criticized this behavior of Kohli. Many veterans expressed their displeasure over the attempt to intimidate 19-year-old Constas. Ricky Ponting on Channel Seven said that Virat Kohli deliberately went to the other side of the pitch and started this confrontation. There is no doubt that the umpire and referee will look at it seriously.

Ponting further said that Constas might have looked at the last moment and not even realized that someone was standing in front of him. Kohli will have to answer on this incident.
