‘If they face 25-30…’: India’s assistant coach passes Judgement on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar believes that Indian captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli are in need of a good start in order to get their pace going. According to Nayar, if Rohit and Virat are able to face the initial 25-30 balls, they will be back in their usual form.
The form of Rohit and Virat in the ongoing Test series is a matter of concern for India for winning their third edition of Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Australian soil. Rohit has scored 152 runs in his last 13 Test innings, and Virat also started his Australian tour with an unbeaten century in Perth.
When talking to the media after the first Day of Boxing Day Test, Abhishek Nayar gave answers to questions regarding Rohit and Virat’s form in longest format of cricket.
“I always believe it’s about having that confidence and getting off to a good start. If they get that, their game looks different. I believe both Rohit and Virat are the kind of players that if they face 25-30 deliveries, you’ll see them back in their usual form,” said Nayar.
After the third Test between India and Australia ended with a draw, both teams are now playing the fourth Test against each other at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
