New Delhi: When Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Australia’s top scorer, Travis Head, for a duck on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, it brought a collective sigh of relief across India. Head, who has been the highest run-scorer of the series with 409 runs from three Tests, including two centuries, had caused India plenty of trouble.

Head’s aggressive shot-making against Bumrah had been one of the series’ key features, making this wicket a significant one for the Indian team. Bumrah delivered a short ball just outside off stump from around the wicket. Head expected it to either miss or move away, lifting his bat, but the ball swung in slightly and clipped the top of the off-stump. While the Indians celebrated, Head was left stunned and disappointed. Bumrah’s wife, Sanjana Ganesan, shared a video of the dismissal on her X account with the caption “Headache.”
