New Delhi. Tamil Nadu BJP State President K. Annamalai has resolved not to wear shoes and slippers. Annamalai announced in front of journalists in Coimbatore that he would remain without shoes and slippers until DMK is removed from power in the state. Assembly elections will be held in Tamil Nadu in the year 2026. In such a situation, this pledge of the BJP leader is really very difficult. Along with this, he has also said that he will whip himself in protest against the rape case of an engineering student in Anna University, Chennai. Along with this he said that he will remain on fast for 48 days from tomorrow.

Taking aim at the Chennai Police, Annamalai said that the police has made public the name, mobile number and other personal information of the rape victim student. He said that BJP workers will protest outside their respective houses demanding justice for the student. Annamalai said, if BJP workers protest in any public place, they are arrested by the police, hence it has been decided that the party workers will protest outside their homes and demand justice for the victim student.

National Women's Commission took suo motu cognizance in student rape case

The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of the rape case of an engineering student in Anna University, Chennai. “The Commission strongly condemns this heinous act and stands with the victim,” NDW tweeted. NCW President Vijaya Rahatkar has directed the DGP of Tamil Nadu to fight for justice for the victim student and ensure strict punishment to the rapist under Section 71 of the BNS, 2023. Along with this, he has also asked to take action against the officials who publicly revealed the identity of the victim in violation of the Supreme Court guidelines.
