Nandamuri Balakrishna's Daaku Maharaaj event canceled after Tirupati stampede – Read
Daaku Maharaaj makers announced on Thursday that the pre-release event, scheduled to take place in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur today, has been cancelled.
The team’s decision comes as a mark of respect for the Tirupati stampede tragedy which claimed the lives of six people. Nandamuri Balakrishna and the team expressed their heartfelt condolences to the victims’ family.
Sithara Entertainments, the production house of Daaku Maharaaj, announced their decision with a statement on social media.
“In light of the recent events in Tirupati, our team is deeply affected by the tragic incident that has occurred. It is heart-wrenching to see such an incident occur at the Lord Venkateswara temple – a place of devotion, hope for millions and a cherished part of our families’ traditions (sic),” the statement read.
The production house further added, “Given the circumstances we feel it is not appropriate to proceed with #DaakuMaharaaj Pre Release Event as planned. With a heavy heart and utmost respect for the devotion and sentiments of the people, we have decided to call off today’s event. We hope for your understanding and support during this difficult time!! (sic).”

The makers of Daaku Maharaaj had planned a massive event in open grounds in Srinagar Colony, on the outskirts of Anantapur. Necessary arrangements, including police permission, were taken care of. The team hasn’t announced a new date for the event.
Daaku Maharaaj, directed by Bobby Kolli, features Nandamuri Balakrishna, Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, Bobby Simha and Urvashi Rautela in pivotal roles. Composer SS Thaman, cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editors Ruben and Niranjan Devaramane are part of the technical team.
