'Ashwin was insulted, he should have given farewell with respect', former cricketer targeted the team management
Former Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin shook the cricket world by taking retirement in the middle of the recently concluded Australia tour. Everyone was surprised by his retirement in the series and some cricket pundits and former cricketers also raised questions on the team management as to why he was not stopped till the last Test.
Now cricketer Manoj Tiwari has also criticized the Indian team management for this misbehavior with Ravichandran Ashwin. In an interview given to the Press Trust of India, the former Bengal captain alleged that Ashwin was insulted, due to which he retired from international cricket.
Tiwary told news agency PTI, “Ashwin was insulted. Look at players like Washington Sundar and Tanush Kotian, they are all quality spinners and perform well in first-class cricket but when you have a player of Ashwin's calibre, So why do you need to bring Washington in the home series where Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep are there and make him bowl more overs than Ashwin? Isn't this an insult to Ashwin?”
Manoj Tiwari further said, “Will he keep playing even after giving so many match-winning performances? He will not say so because he is a good person. But one day he will definitely come forward and share his experience. This is true. There is no process. They are also players and they also need a pat on the back and respect.”
Apart from speaking on Ashwin, Tiwari also took Gautam Gambhir to task and even called him a hypocrite. Under Gambhir's coaching, before the defeat against Australia, India had lost the ODI series in Sri Lanka and the home series against New Zealand. Had to face a shameful defeat in the test series also.
