Varun Chakaravarthy Champions Trophy: The squad of the Indian team for the Champions Trophy is to be announced soon. Everyone's eyes are fixed on which players the selectors will give a chance to and which big names will be left out. It will also be interesting to see which spinners the selectors try for the Champions Trophy. If reports are to be believed, Ravindra Jadeja is already facing the threat of being dropped from the team. On the other hand, there are still many questions on the fitness of Kuldeep Yadav. In place of Jadeja and Kuldeep, a bowler who has not yet made his debut in ODI cricket may get a chance.

Who will be a threat to Jadeja-Kuldeep?

Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are going to face tough competition from Varun Chakraborty. Even though Varun has not played a single match in 50 over cricket yet, he is continuously performing well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the four-match T-20 series played against South Africa, Varun wreaked havoc and took 12 wickets.

While playing in the 50 over domestic tournament, Varun took 18 wickets in 6 matches. Along with taking wickets, Varun is also proving to be quite economical. This is the reason why the selectors can show confidence in him. Varun took 5 wickets in the quarter-final match played against Rajasthan.

Return with a bang in IPL

Varun Chakraborty played an important role with the ball in making Kolkata Knight Riders champions in IPL 2024. The spin bowler bowled brilliantly in 14 matches and took a total of 21 wickets. Varun also got the reward for his explosive performance in the Indian Premier League and was selected in the team for the series played against South Africa.

Varun was successful in leaving his mark in this series too and he made the South African batsmen dance with his spinning balls. In case of Ravindra Jadeja's poor form and Kuldeep Yadav not being fully fit, the selectors can place their bet on Varun.
